Jacob's Christmas Party

Saturday morning we had a Christmas Party at our house and invited Jacob's preschool class.  Four, out of eight, kids came along with their moms and three of the preschool teachers (one from Jacob's class, one from Josiah's, and one from another class).  We told the Christmas story, sang some songs, decorated cookies, ate snacks, and colored.  All seemed to go well, although I think Jacob was a little confused and overwhelmed having his teacher and classmates in his house.  I found him a couple time hiding in his room behind the curtains :).  Here are some photo's from Jacob's party.

An attempt to get all the kids together for a photo.
After telling the Christmas story, we sang a couple Christmas songs, in local language.  Jared played guitar and kids had bells.
The rest of the time was spent decorating cookies, coloring, playing, and talking.

All were excited for photo opportunities in front of our Christmas tree.
We also shot a pictures of Josiah with his teacher, Song.  We have definitely been getting to know Teacher Song.  She and Josiah work together every day at school and every day when I go to pick him up she gives me a full report of the day.  Thankfully we often get to talk about other stuff too!  We are thankful for the all the energy and time she puts into helping Josiah succeed at school.

And finally, Jacob with his teacher Liu.  She is super caring and easy going.  Jacob often is checking out her pockets to see what goodies he can find and is happy to have her carry him around and 'baby' him.  Teacher Liu seems to always be happy and joyful, even after caring for 9 two and three year olds, with runny noses, all day long.
Both Josiah and Jacob's teachers, along with two others, live at the preschool.  The school provides them with a great job, training opportunities, and living quarters.  They do often travel home to the countryside on long weekends.  I have trouble imagining what it would be like to not leave your job each day.  That has got to wear them out!   I was thankful to see them at our party too, even though it meant even more time with the kids they care for each day :).
