Last Saturday Jacob turned 2 years old. I cannot believe that it was only 2 years ago that he entered our lives. The past two years have been full of many changes for us, I guess I am glad it has not gone by all that quickly. When Jacob was born we were living in Louisville, in our two bedroom apartment near Cherokee Park. We had some really good memories there, plus lived within walking distance of I don't know how many parks and coffee shops and lived just across from a fenced in soccer field! We brought Jacob home to that apt. We were there for about 5 weeks and then left and began our adventure of moving overseas. This little guy has been on more airplanes than I can possibly figure out right now, and slept in many different countries, in many different sleeping arrangements, and during many time zones. He has been our laid back Jacob through it all, well except when it comes to when, where, and what he eats (for some reason he is very particular in that area). He daily brings joy to all our lives. Jacob can usually be found following quietly behind Josiah and doing whatever he is doing. If Jacob is not right next to him, Josiah usually will ask where he is. Other times Jacob is piling up Emma's lap with her toys and making sure she has one in each hand. In, around, and between these moments he is showering us all with kisses, even when not wanted, usually the case with Josiah :). He also has a very stubborn streak, and when it shows up there is not much that can break it. It is God who created Jacob with all these unique qualities. Jacob's favorite verse right now is "No one can serve two masters" Matthew 6:24 (He likes me to say it over and over again while he shakes his two fingers). I pray that he will serve God with all his heart, soul, and mind. That he will love Him more than anything else and his stubborn streak would be used to benefit that first love. Jacob, we love you so much and are sooo glad you are a part of our family!
Here is a glimpse into how our family celebrated Jacob on Saturday.
We started the day with coffee cake and candles at breakfast. He even blew out the candles all by himself!

After breakfast we tried out a new play area near our house. While we were there the owner found out it was Jacob's birthday and went and bought him a cake! He and all the other kids got to enjoy it together. (Sorry, I didn't have my camera with me.)
Then we came home and Jacob opened gifts from Josiah, us, Grandma and Granddad, Aunt Rose, and other friends. Thank you everyone! He, AND Josiah, had a great time and spent a super long time playing in between the opening of each gift.

We had a quick lunch and went down for naps. After naps Jared left to go out of town for the week. He will be back on Sunday evening. We were pretty excited he could be here for most of Jacob's big day. (and will be back before Josiah's on the 29th).
