Josiah

Josiah brought me this completed math page, along with the following comment:

"Mommy, look at this!  Read Books!  That is NOT a good secret message.  It was not worth it to do all that work just to find out, Read Books!"

Oh, I love having my kids around for homeschool!

Last week Josiah had a school program, the first at his elementary school.  Sadly, we also had scheduled our adoption homestudy visit for that same weekend (homestudy was planned two months in advance, school program one week in advance).  Because we were not able to make it, a good friend went with him.  She took tons of pictures and video footage and completely spoiled Josiah with attention and snacks.  It was wonderful!  Josiah was also asked to sing a solo, in English.  We chose Stop and Think by Keith and Kristyn Getty.  It's one we often sing as a family and have made up hand motions to go with it.

Getting set up with microphone for his solo.  The woman in the pink sweater is his teacher.
The elementary school setting has been a good experience for Josiah, and for Jared and I as we seek to parent and guide in a second culture.  We have already been given multiple opportunities to internalize and apply what the Bible says in regards to showing respect to those placed in authority and in showing kindness to others.  I have also been stretched when it comes to deciphering the daily text messages from Josiah's teacher and being okay with Josiah not having the supplies he is supposed to have when I just found out about it at 10pm the night before.  What a joy it is to have a son, who loves to be around people, who stands up for what is right, and to get to be a part of encouraging and teaching him.
