We Are Now Online

Yesterday our internet was connected and we now have access to "the world". This morning we made some phone calls to family through the internet and have been catching up on email. It was a relaxing day, in that we spent more time at home just catching up. We have now been in our city for a week and in our new apartment for 5 days. It has been a very busy week with getting to know our way around, setting up house, and working to learn some language and culture. Here are some pictures from our first week.
A picture from one of our long airplane rides. The boys did really well, considering the many hours spent traveling in confined spaces and lack of sleep. This picture is from the first morning in our new city. We stayed in a hotel the first few days. On this morning we were up before sunrise, our bodies were still getting used to the time change. I think all four of us have now completely adjusted. It is becoming much more difficult to get up in the morning. Here is our new apartment. These pictures were taken before we moved in. Jared went to see the apartment and took pictures to show me later. This first one is of the living area. The apartment included quite a bit of furniture. We may buy a dining room table and chairs later, but that is about it for big stuff.
Here is the kitchen area. The kitchen, dining, living room are all one room, something Kelly was very excited about. This will be very helpful with two small children.
Our bedroom. In addition to the furniture, there also are built in closets in both bedrooms and some drawers in ours. This is another great thing for us, less stuff we need to purchase.
We have been getting to know our city. So far we have tried out three local restaurants, in addition to "cheating" and going to western fast food twice. Kelly also did some exploring today and found a market right across the street with produce, meat, fabric, etc. in addition to stands where you can have food made. This is a great find, considering we take a taxi or walk to wherever we go and will take some time to learn how to cook using local foods.
It is definitely cold here. Today the low was 2 degrees F and felt even colder with all the wind. Josiah and Jacob are doing great. Josiah often talks of our new apartment "up in the sky". Jacob is just happy to be able to take naps again in a quite room (rather than in noisy airplane, hotel, or in my arms).

Here is Josiah in our living room. He often watches at the window at the boats going by on the river. At this instance he was showing me how his ark was like the boat outside.
The boys have definitely been troopers. They have taken so many types of transportation, eaten so many different kinds of foods, and experienced so many different situations that are often stressful for their parents. Yet they still are happy and content at the end of it all. We are excited to see them here in this different world and to think that this place will be home for them.
