We spent the majority of this past week in a bigger city a few hours from where we live. We hung out with friends, ate lots of good food, went shopping, swimming, and just played. Jared even went backpacking for two days! It was great fun for all of us, although it did rain much of the time and was cold. This was not expected and was a bit difficult for those who went backpacking. It took us a long time to get everything all dried out. We stayed in a really nice hotel. In fact I think it was the first bathroom I have been into in our country that does not smell. (Even our own bathroom has a very distinct odor, yuck!) There also was an indoor swimming pool next door we visited frequently, in addition to a Starbucks coffee between the two. Josiah became a pro at pointing out both Starbucks and the swimming pool. I am sure you can guess that we made many visits to both :).
Josiah and Jacob playing in the hotel room.
We pretty much stuck to sports (in English!) whenever the tv was turned on. Josiah always asked to watch either cricket or soccer. I think he knows more about cricket now than we do!
This trip Josiah had some new water wings which made him even more fearless, if that is possible. His favorite was to jump in and see how far under he could go before bobbing back up. No one was allowed to catch him, although our rule was that a parent had to be nearby before he jumped.
Jacob even got in on the fun this time. He had a new boat to float in but was usually trying to climb out of it.
We found a real Dairy Queen at a food court and enjoyed a Peanut Buster Parfait after dinner one night. Now we are back home and getting back to work, and trying to figure out this air conditioning thing. To bad it didn't just resolve itself while we were gone ;)
