Picnic
This last weekend we were invited to join some local friends for dinner. At 4:30 we were picked up in a van they rented and taken to their home. Rather than getting out, however, we were taken out into the countryside (only about a 15 minute drive) to the side of a small stream to have a barbecue/picnic. It was great! We have not had many opportunities to get out of the city, mainly because we do not have a mode of transportation to get us there. Josiah was able to throw rocks to his hearts content. We barbecued lots of meat and seafood and had quite a feast. Jacob loved just sitting outside and watching people. It was great to get to know our friends a bit more too. Now, because we thought we were going to our friends for dinner, we were not quite prepared for this outing. For only the second time since we have lived here, that day I chose to wear a skirt. A bit awkward for sitting on the rocks. Josiah also had on a brand new pair of shoes. It ended up raining part of the time. Oh, well. We got home I put spray and wash on everything and threw it in the wash. Josiah's shoes got the blowdryer treatment, and now all is good. Another reminder that we need to be flexible and prepared for anything. It was a great surprise!
Just after arriving to our picnic spot.

Jared and Josiah went to do some exploring. Notice our picnic in the background.
