Roller Skating

A while back we discovered a new roller skating rink in our city. Last Friday we finally went with some friends and tried it out. What a success! We had the whole rink to ourselves, which meant even Jacob was able to run around all he wanted while the bigger kids skated. Josiah loved it and some very strong memories were made. He is going to be talking about that evening for months.

Josiah started out the experience falling down each time he let go of his dad or the side. By the end of the evening he was going across the floor successfully on his own. Jared and I were both surprised and impressed by his determination and effort.

Later in the evening, after Josiah began to get the hang of it, Jared went and put on skates himself. He and Jacob then covered some ground, Jacob in the stroller and Jared on skates.

I wish we had a skating rink. I guess we'll just settle for the Dairy Queen we discovered last month and the Starbucks rumored to arrive at the end of the year. But still...roller skating holds so many elementary school memories...
