The Saga of the Air Conditioner

It is beginning to get warm here and we decided it was time to go out and purchase two air conditioning units for our apartment. Jared and a friend went on Monday to a store and found two that were good quality, a good price, and have great warranties. The store is also a reputable one and seemed like a good choice. He also paid to have them both installed in our apartment. That afternoon three men showed up with the air conditioners. (Just after I had put the boys down for naps, and the men came and immediately went into their rooms which woke them up.) As soon as they arrived we began to wonder about things. They immediately began asking for supplies. We gave them plastic bags for their feet, 5 rags, a ladder, a stool, bucket, mop, and I don't even remember what else. Then they began to drill the hole in the wall to connect the inside unit to the outside and soon there was water everywhere, in the boys room, living room, bathroom, etc. They were using water along with the drill to make the hole. I am going to jump ahead 4 hours. Four hours later when they left, they had installed one air conditioner but it does not yet work because we do not have the correct outlet for the plug. All of the plaster on the wall from the ceiling, where they drilled the hole, to the floor is crumbling from water damage. The wood floor is buckling from water damage. They put 3 very large gouges in the window sill from attempting to install the outside unit. They also left us with an enormous mess in four rooms, to clean up. The other air conditioner is still not installed. They said that they would have to take out the window to install it and there was no way we were going to allow them to do that, or even drill in another room. We just asked them to leave. Now we are trying to figure out how to dig ourselves out of this mess, with no language skills, and very little knowledge of the culture. I will be sure to keep you updated on any progress we make. What a learning experience it has been when it comes to patience!

Awful news! Is there any way to get some sort of compensation from the store that sent those yahoos?
Miss you guys!
